STATE TAX CREDITS FOR DONORS
50% credits in 2026 and 75% credits in 2027
St. Joseph Catholic Church is excited to offer two generous tax credits to donors who support the capital campaign for the EEC renovation with new contributions.
FOR INDIVIDUALS, COUPLES & BUSINESSES IN 2026:
UPDATE: We now have a waiting list for those interested in applying for the 50% KS Tax Credits in 2026. Please email us to let us know if you would like to be added to the waiting list, and the amount of donation you are considering. We will notify you if credits become available. Thank you!
New contributions made after July 1, 2026, may be eligible receive 50% Kansas state tax credits. For example, if you donate $5,000, you can receive $2,500 directly off your KS state tax liability. The $2,500 is subtracted straight from your final state tax balance, dollar for dollar.
These 50% state tax credits can be used against your 2026 tax liability and are transferable and refundable*. This is a great way for a taxpayer to substantially reduce the cost of contributing to support the EEC renovation. If you pay KS state tax, you should consider this and consult your tax advisor before filing.
Unfortunately, these credits cannot be applied to previous donations. Contributions must be made after 7/1/26. These tax credits are offered through the Kansas Dept. of Commerce's Community Service Program and there is a limited amount available. FOR BUSINESSES IN 2027:
In 2027, a new 75% state tax credit program will be available to taxpayers who pay business or privilege taxes. Any type of company can participate (C-Corps, S-Corps, Partnerships, LLCs and Sole Proprietorships whose income passes through). These credits are available only for businesses.
This is the first time a 75% KS state tax credit program has been available to donors who support an eligible Early Education Center in the Archdiocese. St. Joseph is the only childcare center eligible to offer this program in the Archdiocese. Donors do not have to be members of the parish -- any business can participate. Unfortunately, these credits cannot be applied to previous donations.
Companies can use up to $100,000 in Kansas tax credits for this program in 2027 and should apply early (in 2026) to participate. Contact us right away if you are interested by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
WHY CONSIDER USING TAX CREDITS?
Making a charitable donation that uses tax credits is much better than a deduction, which only lowers the amount of your income that is subject to tax. A state tax credit reduces your final state income tax bill dollar-for-dollar, while a tax deduction only lowers the amount of your income that is subject to tax. A 50% tax credit means half of an eligible expense directly subtracts from what you owe, whereas a deduction saves you only a fraction of that amount based on your tax bracket. A 75% tax credit is even better!
* Restrictions apply and availability is limited. St. Joseph encourages all donors to consult with a tax advisor to determine how these 50% credits may affect your 2026 tax return. If you prepare your own tax return and file electronically, please consult your e-file provider or an accountant for instructions regarding the filing of your K-60 tax form and tax credit certificate, if needed.
